Veo 4 Fast vs Seedance 2 Mini: Two Pre-Launch Bets

Veo 4 Fast and Seedance 2 Mini are both pre-launch fast tier video models. Today you can ship on Veo 3 at $0.40/s or Seedance 2.0 at $0.3034/s. Here is which parent line to bet on now and which fast tier to wait for.

Two of the most anticipated fast tier video models are in pre-launch right now: Veo 4 Fast from Google and Seedance 2 Mini from ByteDance. Neither has shipped. Neither has a posted rate. Both are downstream of parent models that ship today on fal at known prices. This post compares what each parent line gives you now, what each fast tier needs to clear at launch to be worth switching, and which one to bet on for a Q3 production pipeline.

What ships today on the Veo side

Veo 3 ships on fal at $0.40 per second. That is the current real number. Veo 4 is not on fal yet, so any Veo 4 quote you see right now is speculative. Veo 3 holds the high end of color science and ships 4K output for cinema masters, with a tradeoff: shorter durations than the ByteDance family, and a per second rate that is the steepest in this comparison set.

Veo 4 Fast, when it lands, will likely keep the Veo lineage's color and texture strengths and trim the rate. Whether it caps at 1080p or holds 4K is the open question. A Fast variant that gives up the 4K master is a different product than one that keeps it.

What ships today on the Seedance side

Seedance 2.0 ships on fal at bytedance/seedance-2.0/text-to-video for $0.3034 per second at 720p plus $0.014 per 1000 tokens. 4 to 15 second clips. Aspect ratios from 21:9 to 9:16. Native audio default on. Reference to video adds an endpoint that accepts up to 9 image, 3 video, and 3 audio references per call.

Seedance 2 Mini, when it lands, will likely keep the same prompt surface and trim the rate. The two open questions are whether the reference stack is preserved and whether resolution stays at 720p or caps lower.

The comparison you can actually make today

Veo 4 Fast vs Seedance 2 Mini: Two Pre-Launch Bets inline 1 The gap is $0.10 per second at the per second math. On a 5 second clip that is $0.50. Across 100 clips it is $50. Across a Q3 slate of 500 clips at 8 seconds each, the per second gap is $400. Real but not the deciding factor for most teams.

The deciding factor is what each model is good at. Veo 3 holds color science and 4K. Seedance 2.0 holds duration and the reference stack.

The speculative gap

What each fast tier brings at launch is unknown. The Veo 4 Fast story will probably be a discount on the Veo rate while preserving most of the Veo color lineage. The Seedance 2 Mini story will probably be a discount on the 2.0 rate while preserving most of the prompt surface. Neither vendor has posted the actual numbers.

If you need to commit to a parent line today and adopt the fast tier on launch, the choice depends on your deliverable, not on the rate.

A verdict for picking now

For broadcast or cinema work that requires 4K masters, stay on the Veo lineage. Ship on Veo 3 today, evaluate Veo 4 Fast at launch against a 4K spec.

For social, ad, and pipeline work that needs 9:16 cuts, reference continuity across clips, or durations past 10 seconds, stay on the Seedance lineage. Ship on Seedance 2.0 today, evaluate Mini at launch against the reference stack and the audio behavior.

If you can afford to wait two to four weeks, watch both fast tier launches and pick based on the posted rate and the feature set. Do not commit to a fast tier sight unseen.

A verdict for picking at launch

The fast tier that wins your Q3 spend is the one whose parent strength you actually use. Veo 4 Fast wins if your deliverable list is dominated by color and resolution work. Seedance 2 Mini wins if it is dominated by duration, references, or audio.

We will run the side by side on launch day. Until then, every fast tier number is preview and subject to change.
